<note>This thesis investigates the potential of unified QR payments as a pivotal tool in advancing economic integration within the ASEAN region, particularly under the Digital Economic Framework Agreement (DEFA). Utilizing a qualitative research methodology with an emphasis on case analysis, this study explores how digital payment systems can foster cross-border economic collaboration, reduce transaction costs, and enhance financial inclusion across ASEAN member states. The research focuses on the theoretical application of Social Network Theory and draws insights from key experts and literature on digital economic integration. The findings are structured around three key points. First, the adoption of unified QR payments is crucial for facilitating seamless cross-border transactions, which are essential for economic integration. Second, the study highlights the challenges posed by disparities in digital infrastructure, regulatory misalignment, andcybersecurity risks, which could impede the successful implementation of unified payment systems. Third, the thesis provides recommendations for overcoming these challenges, emphasizing the need for regulatory harmonization, enhanced collaboration among member states, and the promotion of financial inclusion, particularly for small and medium-sizedenterprises (SMEs). Overcoming these challenges might support ASEAN in strengthening its position as a leading digital economy, fostering sustainable and inclusive growth for all member states.
