Countering Radicalism and Extremism: The Exigency of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 in The Design of Indonesian’s National Action Plan

Actions of radicalism and extremism can threaten the security of the state and actors within a country. In conflict-affected nations, youths frequently become the targets of violence and its perpetrators. The United Nations (UN) Security Council issued resolution 2250 on Youth Peace and Security (YPS), featuring a call to action for all UN members to involve youth in peacebuilding and extremism prevention, notably through implementing policies and initiatives. This study aimed to determine the government's efforts in making state policies and civil society advocacy using qualitative research methods based on policy- making theory and transnational advocacy networks. This study employed in- depth interviews and document studies for the data collection techniques. The findings of this study indicate that the radicalism and extremism prevention agenda for youth are included in the National Action Plan for Prevention and Combating Violent-Based Extremism Leading to Terrorism. However, there has yet to be a comprehensive National Action Plan regarding the agenda of YPS in Indonesia.
