Several studies about intercultural communication have already been conducted in Indonesia. Consequently, this study aims to investigate the ways to overcome the intercultural barriers and how to maintain the interaction between the Chinese and the Indonesian leaders. The role of Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT) will seek in this research as one of the tools to realize good communication. This study used a qualitative method and was conducted in a footwear manufacture in West Java. The participants of this study contain 8 participants (4 Chinese and 4 Indonesian) who possessed at managerial level. Each of the participants delivered briefly about all the points used in this study. The data was gathered through semi-structured interviews to reveal the research problems. Both convergence and divergence practices, including verbal and non- verbal codes, were revealed as the finding of this study. In specific, the Chinese were tended to fully converge by speaking in the Indonesian language, followed by the adjustment of volume and intonation, and completed by body language. Exceptional for a newbie Chinese who only converge through body language but diverge in the vocabulary. Also, an experienced Chinese who still diverged in grammar. The Indonesian then were converged through body language but diverged in speech rate and the unperceived vocabulary by the Chinese. The convergence practices were used both for overcoming the language barriers and maintaining the Chinese-Indonesian interactions. In addition, the ways to maintain were also consisted of keeping the warm relation, learning Indonesian habits (by the Chinese), and always practising repetition (by the Indonesian).
