Analysis on New Antisemitic Movement in Germany by Alternative für Deutschland

The unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany marked the end of World War II and it put an end to the so-called “Final Solution” which was motivated by antisemitism. In 2019 a German local newspaper published a cut-out kippah to show solidarity towards Jews community, seeing the rising numbers of antisemitic crime in Germany. Yet, the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), a newly-found party which takes the anti-immigrant stance, still managed to increase its popularity amongst the Germans, while the members showed antisemitic acts. This research questioned the development of antisemitism after the World War II to the present time which is shown by the members of AfD. Researcher chose the Spiral of Silence as the main theory with support of other concepts. This theory is used to determine the indications of latent antisemitism after the World War II ended. As this research studies the process of antisemitism development, therefore qualitative methodology with historical approach is used to answer the research question. Data will be collected from literatures, movies/series, and interviews. This research shows that after World War II, antisemitism in Germany became latent and it was not defunct.
