The Use of Persuasion Behind Justin Trudeau's Apology to the Canadian LGBTQ2 Community
Apology can bea medium of persuasion. Justin Trudeau, known asa young leader of Canada, uses apology toappreciate those who gave fought for Canada in the Cold War yet they were violated and persecuted for being LGBTQ2. His apology is also to make the LGBTQ2 Canadians have the same rights as everyone does. How the apology can be considered as a persuasionwill be analyzed based on the components and elements of persuasion by Richard Perloff. This study adopts qualitative research with textual analysis as the method which will use articles and websites and literature study such as theory books. Justin Trudeauuses all persuasion components and elements to apologize and persuade audience to support LGBTQ2 rights.His authority, credibility, and social attractivenessshould not be questioned in the applicationas a persuader. In his apology, his persuasion workswith his commitments and being anidol of media.
