Diplomasi Ekonomi Tiongkok Terhadap Indonesia Dalam Mengatasi Dilema Malaka Melalui Belt Road Initiative
The Straits of Malacca are international waters which have an important role in the process of export-import for international trade, especially the current largest user client, China. However, in practice, China has several obstacles in the process of exporting and importing through the Strait of Malacca, Hu Jintao (President of China in 2003) defines it as the Malacca Dilemma. China is a country that is currently trying to change the global economic order, by launching a mega project launched by China's lifetime president, Xi Jinping. The mega project is the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) which connects China's international trade routes through land routes in the form of highway and railroad construction and maritime routes with port development in strategic locations for China's international trade. Indonesia is a developing country that is very promising for the international investment climate because it has a very large economic market potential with 270 million inhabitants. In addition, Indonesia's geopolitical, geoeconomic and geostrategic factors can also be categorized as the best in Southeast Asia. Therefore, China views it as important for Indonesia to be involved in the BRI mega project and help solve China's problems in the Malacca Strait. This research was conducted to find out how the economic diplomacy carried out by China to Indonesia can solve the above problems. A qualitative approach was used in this study with a qualitative analysis method to draw conclusions and suggestions. It is the hope of the researcher that this research can find out how the diplomacy carried out by China towards Indonesia can be a learning point and help develop Indonesia's diplomacy capabilities in the future.
